Tipsy Toad London Dry Gin
Major Farquhar St John Smythe was an eccentric character and lover of all things Gin.
After a distinguished military career, which some say involved some illicit trading in smuggled and bootlegged spirits, it is reputed that he joined a secret band of craft distillers in the mid 1800s.
Using his extensive knowledge of distilling and illicit network of distributors, he produced a spirit to rival the big players of the day. His spirits became known for their exceptional flavour, character and smoothness and due to the illicit nature of his trading would hit a price point suitable for all the taverns and coaching inns that were seldomly visited by the revenue man.
Having rediscovered his recipes and method, we are pleased to introduce The Tipsy Toad London Dry Gin. While posted to India in the 1800s Toad became quite partial to gin and tonic, which he took for breakfast to help ward off the mosquitos. Not happy with the issued offering, he re-distilled with added Juniper, Coriander Seed and a touch of Liquorice, Borage and Lavender to remind him of home.
FLAVOUR PROFILE
Our small batch distilled gin contains 14 botanicals, Juniper Led, with hints of citrus from Red Grapefruit and Bitter orange, exotic spice from cubeb and grains of paradise interwoven with Borage and Lavender from the English countryside. Serve over ice with a slice of orange.
